FIMI ALL-EMBRACING AS IT CELEBRATES ITS 50th ANNIVERSARY

  • FIMI set to have 10% more international trade content.
  • Foreign buyers from 35 countries expected at FIMI
  • 85th edition also marks FIMI’s 50 anniversary as the fair dedicated to the children’s fashion business – an event that celebrates children’s fashion and will be opening its doors from 23rd to 25th June at the Glass Pavilion in Madrid’s Casa de Campo park.

The International Fair for Children’s and Junior Fashion, FIMI, is five decades old and is definitely the longest-established showcase for design, business and trends on the international circuit of trade fairs specialising in children’s fashion.

At this next edition FIMI will be celebrating HAPPY SUMMER and bringing together designs from almost 200 companies that will be showing their collections for dressing our young ones this next spring and summer, 2018. A showcase of the very latest in children’s fashion, both casual and formal together with swimwear, footwear and accessories and featuring companies from all over Spain. The regions most strongly represented are Andalusia and the Comunidad Valenciana, followed very closely by the Comunidad de Madrid.

It is worth noting the increase in the number of international brands taking part in the commercial exhibition, which is 10% up on last time with exhibitors coming from Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Turkey and the United Kingdom to show their collections at FIMI.

Equally, FIMI’s most innovative, leading edge element, SEE ME, is also bigger this time. More than 40 brands are showing different designs that reflect a connection between essence, detail and lifestyle. The event that has 50% more brands than last time round is being styled as a business and fashion forum within the framework of FIMI HAPPY SUMMER.

As to demand, professionals from 35 countries have confirmed that they will be attending FIMI to see the exhibitors’ ranges at first hand. The international buyers will be coming from: Algeria, Andorra, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

FIMI has much to celebrate and has to this end put together a substantial programme that also includes a slot for an exhibit tracing the history of children’s fashion, a photo album that will show how FIMI has developed as a meeting point for the industry and is also an acknowledgement of those who are no longer with us but are major figures in the history of FIMI. There are a number of other events relating to children’s fashion taking place too.

FIMI KIDS FASHION WEEK: the spectacle of children’s fashion

The FIMI KIDS FASHION WEEK is once again set to be the most appealing and creative element of the fair, showing the collections that will be setting trends. This time there are 17 companies showing their exclusive collections for the coming 2018 spring-summer season.

The labels taking part in the Pasarela (catwalk shows) include AGATHA RUIZ DE LA PRADA, DOLCE AELA, DOLCE PETIT, EVE CHILDREN, FOQUE, JOSÉ VARÓN, JOSÉ VARÓN BAÑO, LEA LELO, LION OF PORCHES, MARICRUZ MODA INFANTIL, N+V VILLALOBOS + NIEVES ALVAREZ, N+V VILLALOBOS + NIEVES ALVAREZ BAÑO, OCA LOCA, QUERIDA PHILIPPA, STILNYASHKA, TERESITA ROYAL and TRYBEYOND BY MAULI.

Seeing the shows will bring the fashion professionals, specifiers, influencers, media and bloggers that have been invited to attend right up to date with the latest trends in casual and formal fashion, footwear and swimwear in a show that is notably international this time, with Italian label Trybeyond by Mauli on the runway along with Russian label Stilnyashka and Portuguese fashion house Lion of Porches.

What is more, for several editions now the FIMI KIDS FASHION WEEK has been a boiler house of new ideas thanks to the FIMI Catwalk Shows, which have featured designs by the FIMI nuditos, young students presenting their designs for the first time to an audience of professionals looking to them as the potential future designers of their collections.

The FIMI KIDS FASHION WEEK Catwalk Shows take place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th at the end of the working day, 18.30. The nuditos runway show is at 13.00 on Saturday.

FIMI opens its doors this Friday, 23rd June, in the Glass Pavilion at the Casa de Campo in Madrid. Running through to Sunday 25th, it will reveal the key children’s fashion trends for the coming season to the world.
