Babykid Spain + FIMI’s first day highlights international buyer presence

Babykid Spain + FIMI, the leading trade fair for the children’s sector, closed the first day of its 2026 edition with a great business atmosphere, confirming expectations for a record-breaking event. This success is due to the increase in participating brands, which now exceed 700 and fill Levels 2 and 3 of Hall 7 at Feria Valencia, as well as the fair’s commitment to professional visitors, both Spanish and international, thanks to the support of ICEX and IVACE.
Thousands of trade visitors attended the event to discover the latest sector trends. The fair’s international dimension has been reinforced thanks to the support of ICEX and IVACE, which has driven a notable growth in the number of international buyers. The exhibition stood out for the presence of numerous companies from the four key sectors that make up BKS+FIMI: fashion and accessories, nursery products, toys—which have multiplied their presence in this edition—and footwear.
Several of the companies with the longest history and strongest ties to Babykid Spain + FIMI shared their experience on the occasion of the first day of this edition, highlighting the fair’s value as a launch platform, a tool for internationalisation, and a meeting point for the community. Mónica Frade, Manager of Sardon, emphasised the international boost: “Thanks to our participation in Babykid Spain + FIMI, we have achieved significant international growth. In fact, we consider it one of the most important trade fairs in Europe.” For her part, Mónica Algás, CEO of Boboli, highlighted its status as a benchmark: “For us, as a Spanish brand, FIMI is the benchmark fair and the essential meeting point with our customers, competitors, and the entire sector.”
With the record participation, the family business Foque offers a unique perspective. María del Pilar López, Manager of Foque, explained: “FIMI has meant a lot in our trajectory. It was the platform for showcasing our collections, especially in the years before social media. Coming to FIMI gave the brand international projection and key visibility within the sector.” Charo Gutiérrez, creator of the Creaciones Charo brand, agreed on the impact: “Participating in FIMI has influenced our brand significantly, giving us great visibility in the international market. We have experienced many good moments over these years and are very happy with the fair’s organisation.”
Finally, Álvaro Toubes, Manager of Paz Rodríguez, highlighted the value of unity: “We believe in commitment to the sector and that we are stronger together. The idea of bringing us all together in the same event has paid off: Babykid Spain + FIMI is getting bigger and better. Thanks to the joint effort, the fair has become a true benchmark.”
Alicia Gimeno, Director of Babykid Spain + FIMI, stressed the fair’s role as a benchmark, a showcase for trends, and a meeting point for the entire international sector, noting: “The first day of BKS+FIMI 2026 has exceeded all expectations, consolidating our status as a leading fair and a showcase for trends in the children’s world, the meeting point for the entire international sector.” Gimeno also highlighted that “this edition is particularly significant as it coincides with the celebration of FIMI’s 100th edition, a milestone that fills us with pride as it showcases the history of children’s fashion in our country.”
Sector Celebrates FIMI’s 100th Edition
The inaugural day was marked by the emotional commemoration of FIMI’s 100th edition, a unique event that symbolises the strength, creativity, and permanence of a sector that has grown alongside thousands of families, designers, and brands. For over four decades, FIMI has been the great meeting point for children’s fashion, the stage where trends are born, talents are discovered, and the identity of Spanish fashion for the little ones is forged. One hundred editions later, Feria Valencia remains the home of an event that combines tradition, innovation, and emotion; a space where every collection tells a story and every catwalk projects the future. This commemoration is not just a number: it is a tribute to the efforts of the companies, the trust of the retailers, and the commitment of the creative talent that has made FIMI an international benchmark.
To celebrate this milestone, the fair has organised the exhibition “100 Editions of Children’s Fashion”, an experience that traces the history of FIMI through photographs, iconic garments, posters, testimonials, and archive objects. This space combines emotion and memory, showing how children’s fashion has evolved over the last half-century.
In addition, a retrospective catwalk show was held, bringing together historic brands and new creators, reinterpreting children’s fashion through time on a symbolic runway where past, present, and future are dressed in excitement. The day concluded with an act of recognition for the trajectory of FIMI and its protagonists: designers, companies, media, and entities that have accompanied the fair throughout its history. At this tribute event, the FIMI · 100 Editions commemorative plaque was presented to Carlos López (Foque), Mónica Algás (Boboli), Julio Mañes (Siena), and Doña Pepa Ortiz, the soul and living memory of the fair, for having dedicated her life to weaving the history of this event.
The event also took the opportunity to remember Cristina Álvarez, owner of the La Flamenca shop in Punta Umbría (Huelva), and a visitor to Babykid Spain + FIMI, who lost her life last Sunday in the train accident in Córdoba, both on its social media channels and at this event.
Earlier, the Babykid Spain + FIMI Catwalk Hall hosted the first of two catwalk shows featuring the latest sector trends, the FIMI Kids Fashion Week, which is established as one of the children’s fashion shows with the greatest international projection. Brands participating in this edition include Abel & Lula, Amarca Kids, Artesania Filita, Boboli, Canada House, Dadati, Javilar, Marae Kids, Mayoral, Monamur by Mou-te, Nath by Tuc Tuc, Newness, Nora Baby Bags by Cambrass, The Boston Kids, and Tuc Tuc.
